I am an admitted attorney practicing in Johannesburg, South Africa with experience in the following areas: • General and Commercial Litigation in both High and Lower Courts, Mediation and Arbitration, Contractual drafting and Interpretation, Drafting and analysis of Pleadings and Legal Opinions, Debt Collection, S65 Applications, Evictions, Liquidations, Prosecution of Appeals in both High and Lower Courts including the Supreme Court of Appeal. I have over a decade of practical legal experience in a variety of juristic fields in both academic and industry sectors as a legal researcher, paralegal and practitioner. My background in legal research and drafting, combined with experience in high pressure litigation proceedings has allowed me to develop excellent interpersonal communication/negotiation, investigative and analytical skills and to draft succinct and accurate pleadings to both action and motion proceedings, affidavits, reports and correspondence. Exposure in the above areas have enabled me to work with a wide variety of clientele, including various listed companies with business interests both local and international, ranging from the diamond mining industry, gold refining and jewellery companies, real estate agencies, real estate development and management companies, construction companies, car rental agencies and the creative and digital marketing industries. I have developed a high success rate in settling disputes and accurately evaluating the strength of my clients’ claims thereby bringing settlement to matters often before legal action ensues. During the period of 2011 – 2013 I interned at the Institute for International and Constitutional Law in Africa (ICLA) where I assisted in reviewing formal lettering between the then United Nations, Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Prof. C. Heyns, and various Heads of State and/or Governmental Institutions across the globe, including assisting with the compilation and building of an online African Constitutional Database under supervision of Prof. E de Wet. My background as a practitioner has allowed me to develop practical approaches to conflict resolution in the corporate environment and I am suited for engagement which will allow for development of my skill set and broadening of my experience as an attorney.
