My name is Xola Nontlantane, a registered Professional Accountant with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Sciences and I have also completed my SAICA Articles in January 2018 with the Auditor General of South Africa. I have extensive public sector external audit experience, auditing government entities, local, provincial and national government. My five years as an External Auditor covered areas such as Supply chain management, Compliance with laws and regulations, Performance information and financial statements. It is on these audits that I have gain extensive knowledge and experience on the application of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Municipality Systems Act (MSA), Treasury Regulations, Generally Recognised Accounting Practices (GRAP), Modified Cash Standards, DORA. I have also gained knowledge and understanding of audit processes and procedures and knowledge of good governance policies, practices and directives including the King’s reports. My experience as an External Auditor equipped me to work well in a deadline orientated environment, to solve complex problems, provide value adding recommendations to issues facing clients, and my communication skills was enhanced by the amount of writing various communiqués and engaging with clients in a business environment.
