My name is Xolani Mavuso, a mechanical engineering graduate. To begin with, Mechanical engineering is a career that suits very well with my personality as I have always been curious about how things work and very keen to know how I can use scientific theories to solve real world problems. This is a career path I have always been eager to pursue ever since I was young, and I am very enthusiastic and cannot wait to make it a reality. Hard work and dedication are the building blocks of the driven and visionary person that I am. I am a self-motivated person who always strives to be reach his highest potentials. I also work very well with others. In fact, what helped me pull through school and get such good results was my willingness to work along with others. This is reflected by the numerous awards that I achieved while I was still at school. My strengths are honesty, dedication, strong work ethics and positive attitude I deserve this graduate programme because I am well equipped and knowledgeable about the competencies and abilities that one needs to possess in order to be successful in this career. One of the reasons why I chose mechanical engineering is because it is a very diverse branch of engineering, incorporating manufacturing engineering, which focus on the design and operation of integrated systems for the production of high-quality and economically competitive products, to designing electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines, and designing refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Mechanical engineers also analyse mechanical and thermal devices and troubleshoot problems. This is the career that will offer me the opportunity to continuously learn and grow and therefore become an expert in my field. This opportunity will be beneficial in helping me pursue my career. Engineers are regarded as the pillar of the modern society. The work of engineering influences innovation and creativity that propels our society. Engineering is about improving the way of life and I would be excited to be part of that. Engineers influence greatness, they simplify life and I suppose that I can never seek real excitement in my job unless it serves to improve humanity. It is my dream to contribute to the development of this field in my country, and hence receiving this opportunity will help me tremendously. In conclusion, this graduate program will become a springboard and my first step towards reaching my goals, and I will be very pleased if I can obtain it.
