I am a 22 year old South African female who has graduated with Honours in Medical Science (Microbiology) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I anticipate completing my Masters at the end of 2020. I am an analytical thinker with an outgoing and driven personality to make a success of my commitments and goals. My curious, well organized and work ‘smart’ qualities allowed me to pursue medical research, whereby I developed a passion for both theory and practical components of research. I have part-time work experience however i am currently unemployed. I would be grateful for any opportunity since i possess immense passion in the field of laboratory medicine and medical science. I am willing to relocate locally or internationally. I possess an interest in infectious research, particularly in HIV. I possess the willingness to work in tissue culture, in vivo experiments and molecular biology. I am equipped with the following laboratory techniques: • Nucleic acids – DNA extraction, quantification and agarose gel electrophoresis • Sequencing of PCR product – estimate concentration, cycle sequencing and clean-up of sequencing products • Analysis of nucleic acids. Bacterial Genotyping by RFLP (blotting, hybridization, labelling and detection) • Antimicrobial susceptibility testing • Gene expression – RT - qPCR • Site directed mutagenesis • Recombinant DNA technology • Cell culture and preparation for gene expression • Flow cytometry • Microscopy • Bioinformatics
